Which plates and dishes can I use with FluidFM OMNIUM? How much liquid do I need?

Maria Milla

The FluidFM OMNIUM system already supports a wide range of plates and dishes. 24-, 12- and 6-well plates are compatible, as are standard dish sizes of various formats. Because of possible collisions with some components of the system, it is important to use plates that have been already tested (see a list of recommended plates and dishes below).

Each new plate or dish has a specific configuration in the system. With the plate editor, integrated in the ARYA software, a template can be created for each case. Do not hesitate to contact us for assistance ([email protected]) in case you have any trouble when creating new templates. We can also create a safe configuration for your preferred container.

It is also possible to create a physical holder for custom plates, either by the user or Cytosurge (available on request, subject to charges), such as the ones created specifically for Willco dishes and microscopy glass slides:

It is also important to have the right amount of volume of medium or aqueous solution in each well: too large volumes can produce background noise while imaging; too little volumes can lead to a bad signal laser and, thus, to errors while trying to approach the sample. Find attached on the table, the right volume for each kind of plate:

Specifications for loading and storing plates

As standard, we recommend 12 well plates (NUNC) for typical FluidFM experiments. The loading plate can be placed on top of this type of plate, facilitating the loading of probes into the system:

In case you want to use plates that are not indicated on the above list, do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. We will check whether and how the plates can be used on the FluidFM OMNIUM Series.
