Laboratory Technician (Biology) 80-100% (m/f/d)

Glattbrugg, Switzerland

We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Laboratory Technician for our Applications team.

Your main mission will be to boost our single cell biopsy collection capabilities and run our RNA library preparation and QC pipeline. You will use the most sensitive and advanced protocols available for ultra-low input RNA-Seq, directly contributing to the development of novel technologies that are redefining genomics.

Your Challenge

  • Routinely collect single cell biopsy samples for application development and customer projects
  • Routinely execute NGS RNA library preparation, quantification (e.g. qPCR, automated electrophoresis), and rigorous quality control
  • Operate and maintain specialized instruments (FluidFM OMNIUM, Fragment Analyzer, etc.)
  • Manage laboratory and cell culture housekeeping: Maintain inventory, order supplies, prepare aliquots and stock solutions, and ensure biosafety compliance
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of experimental procedures and results using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)
  • Collaborate with the development team to continuously improve protocols, define SOP’s, and support the planning of experimental activities

Your Profile

  • Completed apprenticeship as a laboratory technician with specialization in biology, or alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field
  • Profound knowledge of molecular biology techniques (RNA extraction and enrichment, PCR, qPCR, capillary electrophoresis, etc.)
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture techniques (Biosafety level 2)
  • Experience in laboratory housekeeping procedures, including maintaining inventory and equipment, ordering supplies, and preparing stock solutions
  • Experience in using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) or Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Full proficiency in English, basic knowledge of German is a strong plus
  • Desirable: Work experience with single cell RNA-seq, preferably with low-input RNA-seq protocols such as SMART-seq, FLASH-seq or other commercial kits
  • Desirable: Work experience in a GLP-compliant lab, or acquainted with standard quality management systems (e.g., ISO 17025, ISO 9001)

Who You Are

  • Meticulous: You treat every sample as irreplaceable, because in our work, it often is
  • Reliable: Your colleagues trust that when you hand off a library, the data in the notebook matches what's in the tube
  • Hands-on: You prefer the bench to the desk and you take ownership of the lab space and keep it running
  • Collaborative: You work within a small, tight-knit team where everyone's contribution is visible and valued
  • Self-organized: You manage your time, flag problems early, and don't wait to be told what needs doing

Cytosurge team

About us

Cytosurge is a synthetic biology enabler. We are dedicated to fulfilling the unmet need for implementing complex genetic designs into gene-edited mammalian cell lines. We thereby bridge the manufacturing gap between the advances made in data driven genetic design tools and tangible applications of genetically engineered cells. The company applies a patented single cell bottom-up gene editing process and groundbreaking dynamic gene expression analysis capabilities to construct, evaluate, and debug complex synthetic mammalian cell lines. We are thereby effectively addressing a major pain point of current genetic engineering workflows in mammalian cell lines. Our initial focus lies in enhancing therapy manufacturing for future cures, with the ultimate goal to empower genetic engineers to concentrate on designing next-generation gene edited mammalian cell lines, confident that their visionary concepts can be realized.
